COMICS

I create playful comics that present complex ideas
in an accessible way.

KOBRO

Fictionalized biography of Katarzyna Kobro, Polish avant-garde sculptor, prominent representative of the Constructivist movement in Poland.
A story of an artist's struggle for freedom and artistic independence against the backdrop of two world wars and four political systems.

The project received a working grant from the Polish Ministry of Culture for 12 months in 2022.

The comic was awarded 3rd prize at the 34th International Festival of Comics and Games in Łódź in 2023 as part of the Comic Album Treatment competition: In the opinion of the jury, this work stands out as an exceptionally successful biographical comic. It not only portrays the lives of two artists, Katarzyna Kobro and Władysław Strzemiński, but also offers insights into Polish art from the pre-war to the mid-20th century, as well as the systemic changes of the time. The author extremely skilfully intertwines motifs from the works of both protagonists into the events of their lives, while using a sparing drawing style for the story itself. The jury particularly appreciated the description of the competition entry, outstanding in terms of content, as well as the choice of demanding theme, characters and era. The story of the main character illluminates the clash between the need for individualism and the realities of the system, and thus also has a contemporary relevance.

Work in progress.

JUST GIVE UP

The comic was created for the ComicInvasionBerlin 2024 comic contest and has won 2nd place in the adult category.

The theme: “Is this the future or is it trash?”

The world is burning—where can we find hope? Climate catastrophe can no longer be averted, it’s just a matter of how bad it gets and for whom first. Wars and conflicts seem to repeat themselves continually in a loop, contrary to all the lessons of history. Some of us have given up, others engage as activists, artists, punks or within their circle of friends. How are you dealing with all of this? Where do you find hope, what keeps you going?
